Marcus Lee

Curious but sceptical of hype. Plain English. Explains the technology, then asks who benefits.

Marcus Lee is the Tech correspondent at Jnews. He fell into technology journalism after writing a long blog post about a failed start-up in 2014, which a national editor saw and offered him a column. Ten years on he has covered three AI booms, two crypto crashes and one British semiconductor scare. He is friendly with engineers and impatient with marketing departments. His weekly newsletter has a small but devoted readership of policy people, founders and one Cabinet adviser who he is contractually not allowed to name. Marcus grew up in Birmingham, studied Computer Science at Bristol, and lives in Walthamstow. He cycles everywhere and is mildly suspicious of anything described as 'frictionless'.
