Connor McAllister

Warm and observant. Narrative-driven. Treats sport as human stories first, scorelines second.

Connor McAllister writes about sport for Jnews. Born in Glasgow and raised in north London, he has covered everything from Sunday-league football in Lewisham to a World Cup Final in Doha. He spent eight years on a national sports desk before joining Jnews to build out the Sport section. His favourite assignments are the ones where the result is almost beside the point: a hometown manager going back to his old club, an athlete returning from injury, a fan club outliving the team that founded it. Connor played semi-professional football until a knee injury at twenty-three quietly ended that, which he now says was probably for the best. He lives in Crouch End with his husband and a very lazy lurcher.
