Los Angeles local, Gilbert W. Taylor, best known for his recurring role on the hit soap opera “Days of our Lives,” makes his Directorial debut with the short film “Here After.”
The 19-minute drama-fantasy focuses on an old man at the end of his life who is visited by two angels: one to uplift him and remind him of his worth, another to tear him down and reap his soul. The sentiment is a universal one that most people face at the end of their life- did I pursue a life well-lived?
The film was produced by Gilbert’s production company Dapper Dragons. Gilbert founded the company alongside his writing partner Nathaniel Nuñez so they could tell their own stories and collaborate with other BIPOC and LGBT+ artists along the way, hopefully opening doors for more representation of overlooked individuals.
Gilbert hails from New London, Connecticut and studied history at Lakeland Community College before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue his film career.
“Here After” recently received an honorable mention at the Canada Shorts Film Festival where it debuted.
