Because professional wrestling is so physical, injuries are common and can sideline a wrestler’s momentum.

More often than not, promotions will come up with an angle that will have the wrestler in question removed from television. A recent example of this was when WWE Superstar Jade Cargill was put through a windshield that had her off television for months.
Now, it seems the injury bug has struck AEW, and a beloved wrestler will have to take some time away from the ring.

Recently, commentary on AEW Dynamite stated that former AEW World Trios Champion “Slingblade” Jay White had been attacked before the program and would not be able to participate in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Apparently, this was done for a reason.
According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, White has been written off television because he has suffered an injury to his hand and will likely require surgery.

White’s spot in the tournament was given to the newly signed Kevin Knight, who White previously wrestled against on March 29.
This isn’t the first time White has missed time with AEW due to injury. In 2024, White suffered a foot injury and spent a few months recovering before returning to in-ring action.
Needless to say, White is a standout wrestler on a roster filled with incredible talents. Hopefully, he’ll have a safe and swift recovery.
