Woman denies killing 67-year-old Londoners and dumps headless body 250 miles away

A woman has pleaded not guilty to killing a 67-year-old woman and dumping her headless body in Devon.

Mee Kuen Chong, 67, was reported missing from her home in Wembley in north London on June 11. Just over two weeks later, her decapitated body was discovered near the town of Salcombe in Devon on June 27.

On Tuesday, her alleged killer, Jemma Mitchell, showed up at Old Bailey for a prayer hearing. The 37-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering Chong at some point between June 10 and 27 this year.

A preliminary four-week trial has been set for next year by Judge Anthony Leonard QC.

In the meantime, a new court hearing has been scheduled for December 23 this year, which the defendant must attend via video link.

The accused, who comes from Brondesbury Park, Brent, north-west London, was remanded in custody.

Chong, known by friends as Deborah, originally came from Malaysia but moved to the Wembley area of ‚Äč‚ÄčLondon in 2004.
