A man ‘became unwell’ and died after police carried out a bench warrant at a Hall Green home. The 59-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene in Redstone Farm Road.
Police officers were visiting a home in the residential road when the man fell ill at around 7.10pm on Monday evening, April 11. An ambulance was called but sadly, nothing could be done to save him.
He died just before 8.30pm. His death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage and has been referred to the coroner.
West Midlands Police referred itself to the police watchdog, the IOPC, following the incident. BirminghamLive has contacted Birmingham city council for more information on the bench warrant.
