Two injured in East Oakland shooting near school campus

OAKLAND — Two people were hospitalized after an injury shooting in an East Oakland neighborhood that briefly locked down a nearby high school campus, authorities said Tuesday.

According to a police statement posted to social media, officers responded around 2:45 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 4700 block of Ygnacio Avenue near the Fremont High School campus.

The campus was briefly locked down to ensure student and educator safety, and there were no reported injuries at the school.

Officers later learned that two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, managed to obtain their own transportation to a hospital. Neither of the victims were students, and both were later listed in stable condition, police said.

Investigators did not share any information about a possible suspect or associated vehicle description.
