Terence Crawford vs. David Avanesyan: Live updates, results, highlights

Terence Crawford and David Avanesyan went toe-to-toe for 12 rounds Saturday night, with Crawford winning a unanimous decision to retain his WBO welterweight world title and remain undefeated at 36-0.

The victory was Crawford’s 14th consecutive win, a run that includes nine world title fights.

Crawford, who is widely considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, was in control for most of the fight against the tough and game Avanesyan.

Crawford won by the scores of 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109.

Crawford, 31, of Omaha, Nebraska, is a three-division world champion. He made his first title defense of the welterweight belt he won in August, when he stopped production line champion Jeff Horn in the ninth round.

Avanesyan, 30, of Russia, was a late replacement for original Crawford opponent Amir Khan, who withdrew earlier this month because of a back injury.

It was Avanesyan’s first title fight. He had won six fights in a row, including five by knockout, coming in.
