Storm Eunice: Full list of schools in Wales shutting on Friday following red weather warning for 100mph winds

A large number of schools in Wales will close and move to remote learning on Friday, February 18, due to Storm Eunice.

It follows a rare red weather warning being issued for large parts of south Wales with 100mph winds expected to hit.

There is already extensive disruption in the wake of Storm Dudley while other services, such as transport, are expected to be affected tomorrow. You can read more about that and all the latest developments in our live coverage here.

Swansea Council was the first to announce all its schools will close for the day on Friday. A council spokesman said on Thursday: “Due to the red weather warning in place for Swansea between 7am and 12 noon on Friday all schools will move to home learning for tomorrow.”

Schools affected will move to remote learning unless an inset day had already been planned.

Rhondda Cynon Taf announced school closures shortly after.

A council spokesman said: “All our schools will be closed in the interest of public safety, with remote learning opportunities in place. Further service updates and public advice to follow.”

Merthyr Tydfil will also close schools.

A spokesman said: “Following advice from the Met office and in line with other LAs across Wales, the decision has been made for all schools to move to remote learning for tomorrow, Friday 18th February with no staff members or learners expected to attend. “
