Imaginary Horror Trailer

“Maybe we shouldn’t play together anymore, Chauncey!!” Blumhouse + Lionsgate have revealed the first official trailer for a horror movie titled Imaginary, materializing in theaters in March next year. Not to be confused with the other 2024 movie starring Emily Blunt called IF or Imaginary Friends, a comedy about a woman who can se everyone’s imaginary friends. This film is much scarier, with a more horrifying concept. “Playtime’s over…” From Blumhouse, the genre-defining masterminds behind Five Nights at Freddy’s and M3gan, comes an original horror that taps into the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: Are they really figments of childhood imagination or is something more terrifying lying just beneath…? A woman returns to her childhood home to discover that the imaginary friend she left behind is very real and very unhappy that she abandoned him. Starring DeWanda Wise as Jessica, with Tom Payne, Taegan Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcon, & Betty Buckley. This looks a bit strange – scary but not scary.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jeff Wadlow’s Imaginary, direct from Blumhouse’s YouTube:

When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest step-daughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be. Imaginary is directed by American writer / filmmaker Jeff Wadlow, director of the films Cry Wolf, Never Back Down, Kick-Ass 2, True Memoirs of an International Assassin, Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island, The Curse of Bridge Hollow, and the series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” previously. The screenplay is written by Greg Erb, Jason Oremland, and Jeff Wadlow. Produced by Jason Blum, Paul Uddo, and Jeff Wadlow. Lionsgate and Blumhouse present, a Tower of Babble production. Lionsgate opens Imaginary in theaters nationwide starting on March 8th, 2023 coming soon. Scared yet?
