Red Hot Chili Peppers To Play First Sunday Of Jazz Fest

Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline the first Sunday of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 1st. The band will assume the slot vacated by Foo Fighters after they canceled all tour dates in the wake of drummer Taylor Hawkins‘death last month.

The Los Angeles, CA punk-meets-funk stadium rockers will close out Sunday at Jazz Fest alongside The Avett Brothers, Charlie Wilson, The Count Bassie Orchestra, Dumpstaphunk, Randy Newman, and more. Weekend one of Jazz Fest April 29th – May 1st will also host performances from The Who, Foo Fighters, Lionel Richie, Nelly, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Death Cab for Cutie, Third World, José Feliciano, CeeLo Green As “Soul Brotha # 100” (A James Brown Tribute), Galactic featuring Anjelika ‘Jelly’ Joseph, Tank and The Bangas, PJ Morton, Terence Blanchard featuring The E-Collective & Turtle Island Quartet, Anders Osborne, Cyril Neville, Gilberto Santa Rosa, The War And Treaty, George Porter Jr. & Runnin ‘Pardners, Tab Benoitand many, many more.
