How to get Necrozma Dawn Wings in Pokémon Go

Necrozma Dawn Wings

Getting a Dawn Wings Necrozma in Pokémon Go is a multi-step process. Luckily, it’s not too complicated, but be aware that there are a few steps to go through.

First of all, you need to catch a Necrozma and a LunalaYou can obtain one of each by defeating them in a raid and then catching them.

Second, you will need resources: 1000 Lunar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candies and 30 Cosmog Candiesto be exact. The candy is simple – Cosmog candy comes from catching Cosmog, Lunala, or Solgaleo, and Necrozma candy comes from catching a Necrosis. Remember that you can set any of these Pokémon as your boyfriend and walk with them to earn more candy, or you can just use as many rare candies as you want to recharge.

Lunar Fusion Energy is new, however. You can obtain it as a reward for defeating Dawn Wings Necrozma in raids, or by completing paid research quests (if you want to spend in-game money).

This last point is important, because any Duskwing Necrozma you defeat in a raid will appear as a normal version in the encounter screen. If you want a Dawnwing Necrozma, you need to be able to defeat it in a raid. Speaking of which…

Necrozma is the Prism Pokémon because it reflects the light of those around it, especially the light of the Legendary Pokémon Lunala and Solgaleo. It stands to reason that its most powerful forms are its Dawn Wings and Twilight Mane forms, the regular version having not won any awards.

Luckily, Necrozma Dawn Wings is now the strongest Psychic-type Pokémon in the Master League, meaning there’s a good chance you’ll want to pick one up if PVP is your cup of tea.

Everything We Know About Dawn Wings Necrozma

Necrosis is a strange Pokémon in that it is reminiscent of Ultra Beasts, but is not technically considered one. This is actually mentioned in the main series games, which are vaguely concerned about the Prism Pokémon’s origin.

Necrozma’s Pokédex entry in Pokémon Sun describes it as “reminiscent of Ultra Beasts”, while a character in Ultra Sun refers to Necrozma as “a creature almost like an Ultra Beast”.

But the most important thing suggesting that Necrozma is not an Ultra Beast is the fact that Beast Balls have no increased effectiveness against Necrozma. Despite all indications, Necrozma is just a standard Legendary Pokémon!

If you’re interested in learning more about the Prism Pokémon, you can read the official Pokédex entries for all four forms below:

  • Necrosis: “He appears to be in pain as he struggles to find light, which serves as his energy. He appears to come from another world. Light is his source of energy. If he does not devour the light, impurities accumulate within and upon him, and Necrozma darkens and ceases to move.”
  • Twilight Mane Necrozma: “This is his form when he devours the light of Solgaleo. He throws himself at his enemies then lacerates them with the claws of his four limbs and his back. [It is] ‘extremely fierce and impossible to control.’
  • Necrozma Dawn Wings: “Lunala no longer has a will of her own. Now under the control of Necrozma, she continually expels all of her energy. This is her form when she devours Lunala’s light. She grabs her enemies in her giant claws and tears them apart with brute force.”
  • Ultra-Necrozma: “This is his form when he has absorbed overwhelming light energy. He shoots laser beams from his entire body. The light that pours out from his entire body affects living beings and nature, impacting them in various ways.”

For those interested only in the brightest prisms, you’ll be happy to know that bright Necrozma has been available in Pokémon Go since May 30, 2024!

As you can see below, the shiny Necrozma simply takes on an inky blue hue. It’s subtle, but we like it!

This of course means that the other forms are also available in gloss. As you can see below, both Dusk forms ditch their usual yellow and blue coloring for a gorgeous red and pink that looks incredible compared to the same inky blue or regular form. These are top-notch glosses, and we’re here for them!

Last but not least, the reports show that you can fuse a shiny Necrozma with a non-shiny Lunala to get a shiny Necrozma Dawn Wings! You can also disaggregate them at no additional cost, but you will have to pay for the resources again if you decide to disaggregate them again.
