Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford is an American football quarterback for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Lions first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. He is the NFL’s highest-paid player, making $27 million per year in average annual salary.

Stafford was born on February 7, 1988 in Tampa, Florida, the son of Margaret and John Stafford. He was raised in Dallas, Texas. His father was a quarterback at the University of Georgia, and Stafford has said that he grew up idolizing Atlanta Falcons quarterback Steve Bartkowski.
