Manchester United sent a warning about Declan Rice transfer

Former England and Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson believes Manchester United could fall short in their efforts to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice are believed to be United’s best, long-term goal to strengthen their defensive midfield options, and they are desperate to add the Hammers star to their armor.

The English national team player has gone from strength to strength for the last two years or so and has been in formidable form for both club and country, and has helped West Ham shine in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League, as well as helped England reach the final of the European Championships last summer.

Despite United’s predilection for Rice, Johnson, while admitting the 22-year-old would be an ideal fit, does not believe the midfielder would prefer a switch to Old Trafford, pointing to the Reds’ current problems as a problem area.

“I do not think Manchester United could get anyone better than Declan Rice,” Johnson told “If he were available, I think Chelsea or Liverpool would be in front of them anyway.

“Those players only come once. United have it [Donny] van de Beek or anyone and they’re trying to get all these players in that position for lots of money and it just never worked.

“If I were Declan, I would be a little worried about being honest with you. I would think Manchester United is not the old Manchester United.

“There used to be a time where you go whenever Manchester United called. It was the first place. Everyone wanted to go. But they don’t have that appeal anymore.

“I do not think he would end up there, whether they want him or not. But in terms of their business, I think they should just sit tight and wait until the summer and weigh the whole situation up with everyone.”

United, as reported by Manchester Evening News Last month, they are determined to strengthen their defensive midfield options, and a number of names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, including RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara, Denis Zakaria from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Marseille Essen Boubacar Kamara. .
