Man seriously injured overnight in hit-and-run on South Side

A man was seriously injured overnight when he was struck by a red sedan that fled the scene in the Stony Island Park neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 1:45 a.m., the victim, described as in his 50s, was attempting to cross the street in the 8600 block of South Stony Island Avenue. A sedan hit the man and kept going northbound on Stony Island, police said.

The man was taken to UChicago Medicine with trauma to the body.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
