Man fatally shot in Oakland’s Uptown district

OAKLAND — A 34-year-old man was fatally shot in the Uptown district Sunday morning, authorities said.

His name has not yet been released. Police said he was an Oakland resident.

The man was shot about 3:21 a.m.  Sunday in the 400 block of 19th Street between Broadway and Franklin Street.
Police responding to a gunshot detection system alert found the man shot on the sidewalk.  Officers  provided emergency first aid before the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:48 a.m., authorities said.

Police said the man had been at a club in the area before he was shot.
A motive for the killing is under investigation.  No suspect information has been released and no arrests have been made.

The killing is the 106th homicide investigated by Oakland police so far this year.  Last year at this time police had investigated 107 homicides.
