Saoirse Ronan reportedly married her long-time partner, Jack Lowden.
According to THE The Irish IndependentThe couple married in an intimate ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland last weekend, with only a handful of their closest friends and family in attendance.
According to the media outlet, the Scottish Civil Marriage Register shows that Saoirse Una Ronan married Jack Andrew Lowden at the Central Registry Office in Edinburgh.
The Irish actress, 30, who made her breakthrough playing Keira Knightley’s younger sister in the acclaimed 2007 drama Atonementmet Lowden in 2018 on the set of Mary Stuartin which she played the role of Mary Stuart and he played the monarch’s husband, Lord Darnley.
Four-time Oscar nominee Ronan reportedly bought a house with Lowden in west Cork in 2020. The couple live together in north London, with their terrier, Fran.
Rumors of a possible marriage began a year ago when fans believed Lowden had proposed while on a hiking holiday in Scotland in July 2023. He posted a photo from the summit of Ben Vrackie in Perthshire, Scotland, showing a hand, which fans believed could belong to Ronan, wearing a diamond ring.
At the time, although fans commented congratulatory messages on the post, the couple did not address them or confirm the speculations. The Independent has reached out to Ronan’s representatives for comment.
Most recently, the couple shared a photo together at Glastonbury Festival in June, with Lowden seen wrapping his arms around the Ladybug actor as they watched the scene from the crowd.
Ronan began his career at the age of 13 in Atonementa role for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent nominations were for Brooklyn (2015), Ladybug (2017), and Little woman (2019).
Lowden has previously spoken about being blown away by Ronan when he worked with her on Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. “The woman is a force of nature, on and off screen, and she’s totally fearless and also a brilliant leader,” he told the I newspaper Last year.
“My first love is actors, and when you’re given a Ferrari like that, you have to make sure everything is perfect so that the Ferrari shows itself,” he added. “Don’t make a Ferrari do what a Renault Clio does. It’s a terrible analogy, but they’re quality actors. When you have someone like that, you just have to make it easy for them and you’ll get gold. And my God, we did it.”
Lowden’s production company Arcade Pictures, which he set up with Ronan and producer Dominic Norris, is behind their next film. The Gap, in which Ronan plays a recovering alcoholic who returns to the Orkney Islands.
The film is scheduled for release in September this year.
