It’s one of the rules of a day at the seaside in Britain: you absolutely have to stop for an ice cream.
Whether you’re a fan of fruity flavours, sumptuous sundaes or just a good old Mr Whippy, here are the top-rated ice cream parlours dotted along the Kent coast…
ICE CREAM, Herne Bay
There’s nothing more traditional than a Mr Whippy on the pier, and that’s what’s on offer at Ice Cream Sundae. Nestled along Herne BayLocated on the wooden pier between the arcade booths and rides, this kiosk serves everything from ice cream cups and cones to floats, frappes and milkshakes. If the weather is cooler, you can also pick up a hot chocolate.

LULU’S ICE CREAM, Margate
This ice cream shop is currently in the process of moving to a larger store, but until they move into a new location, you can still get a delicious ice cream on the Little Lulu bike. The portable stand offers many different flavours, but we expect the full range to return when the new store opens.

MASSIMO ITALIAN ICE CREAM, Folkestone
There’s nothing wrong with vanilla or chocolate ice cream, but every now and then it’s fun to experiment. At Massimo’s in Folkestoneyou can choose from more interesting flavors including black cherry ripple, raspberry yogurt, white chocolate, peanut butter, licorice and tiramisu.

MORELLI’S GLACE, Broadstairs
It’s one of the oldest and busiest ice cream parlours in the county – and Glastonbury headliner Dua Lipa recently filmed an advert there for her latest tour. Since opening in the early 1900s, this popular spot has been Broadstairs offers old-fashioned desserts like banana splits and sundaes as well as over 20 different flavors to take away and enjoy on nearby Viking Bay Beach.
Details:Open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm at Victoria Parade.
GLACIER SOLLEY’S, Deal
You may have bought a jar of Solley’s when visiting one of the county’s many seaside resorts, as it is sold throughout Kent. However, if you want to get the real thing, you can buy Solley’s.Agreement” then head to the original boutique and choose from over 15 fragrances. Everything is made on site at the farm, less than a kilometre from the boutique, where you can also follow walking and cycling routes, meet the animals and even spend the night at the campsite.
