Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers again wowed his legion of fans on Sunday, scoring 53 points and 12 rebounds in a win against the Charlotte Hornets.

This isn’t the first time Embiid has put up huge numbers for his team.

Heck, it’s not even the first time he’s scored 50+ points this season.

But the more Embiid scores, the more records he breaks.

Following Sunday’s game, Embiid joined a very special NBA list.

He has now played 100 30-point, 10-rebound games after 346 matches.

That’s better than NBA icons like Shaquille O’Neal with 349, Karl Malone with 406, David Robinson with 461, and Anthony Davis who did it in 470.

Embiid is scoring a lot and carrying his team in many ways.

He’s getting some important help from other teammates, of course, but Embiiid is clearly the biggest star in Philly.

Embiid Impresses Again

Embiid was last season’s scoring champion with 30.6 points a game.

He’s also a 5-time All-Star and a 4-time All-NBA player, as well as a 3-time All-Defensive player.

But this year, he may end up being MVP.

The competition is tough and Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and others won’t go down without a fight but Embiid’s run at the top prize has to be considered, especially if he keeps having big games like Sunday’s.

Right now, Embiid is averaging 33.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.

Other guys on his team, like James Harden and Tyrese Maxey, are playing very well this season too yet the 76ers are still sitting at 5th in the East.

The big games are nice, the MVP trophy would be incredible too.

But Embiid wants to win it all and his sights are set firmly on making the NBA Finals for the first time in his career.
