Ian Wright thinks Manchester City are definitely the mystery club pushing to sign 28-goal phenomenon

Ian Wright believes Manchester City are the unnamed club who have reportedly entered the race to sign French superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The 23-year-old, whose contract at Paris Saint Germain expires at the end of June, has long been tipped with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Los Blancos failed to sign the World Cup winner last summer as the Ligue 1 leaders resisted any offers with the hope that they could convince Mbappe to sign a new deal with them.

But while Mbappe has previously labeled Madrid as his ‘dream club’, it has been reported by Italian journalist Alessandro Grandesso that another club are making a move for Mbappe.

The report states that the extra club attempting to hijack Real Madrid’s move is either Liverpool or Manchester City.

But former England and Arsenal striker Wright has no doubt that it’s Pep Guardiola’s Citizens that are the so-called unnamed club who are trying to lure Mbappe away from Madrid’s clutches.

Speaking on his podcast, the BBC pundit said: “If it’s unnamed, it’s Man City!”

Mbappe is likely to be the biggest free transfer story of the summer if he opts against renewing with the Parc des Princes side.

After his side’s 5-1 victory against Lorient on Sunday night, the former Monaco man admitted to Amazon Prime Video that he has not decided where his future lies.

Mbappe said: “I have not made my choice on the future, everyone knows that. I’m thinking, there are new elements and a lot of parameters. If I had made my decision, I would have announced it. ”

There is likely to be plenty more twists and turns in the race to sign the generational talent.

In 209 games for the Parisians, the French star has 160 goals and 81 assists to his name. He has 28 goals and 20 assists from 38 matches this season.

Kylian Mbappe is box office and if Ian Wright is correct and Manchester City have entered the equation then the rest of the Premier League will be nervously watching to see whether Paris Saint German’s number seven will be heading to England.
