Many of you will probably be firing up your Xbox consoles this weekend to download and try out Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3which is now online on Xbox Game Pass. However, the last Call of Duty The builds are streamed live in a confusing app simply called ‘Call of Duty’, so it’s worth reading on to make sure you only download what you need to play MW3.
Our first tip here is not just press “install all” when you find the Call of Duty Hub on Xbox. Instead, to make sure you click on “manage game” and select only what you want to try. You will still need the large amount of data called “base game”, but the rest is totally up to you what you want to play.
Here’s how you would install MW3 Multiplayer, for example:
- Search for “Call of Duty” on your Xbox console
- Select the app titled “Call of Duty” (which currently contains artwork from Black Ops 6)
- Click on “Manage Game”
- Check the install boxes next to: Base Game, MWIII Multiplayer and all the small MW3 “Content Packs”
- Once installed, you will be able to start “Call of Duty” and play MW3 multiplayer.
In this “Manage Game” area, you will also see the “MWIII Campaign” and “MWIII Warzone Zombies” packs, so if that’s what you want to play, you will need to install those packs instead/as well as the Multiplayer pack. Got it? Okay, phew.
If you are wondering why there is also Modern Warfare 2 packs in your “manage game” area, this is because the 2022 Call of Duty game is Also hosted in this application – at least for now. These packs are available for installation, but you won’t you won’t be able to play it unless you own MW2 or it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass in the future.
We’ve found that players are simply hitting the install button in the Call of Duty app, downloading everything available for MW2, MW3, and Warzone. Remember, if you just want to try MW3 on Game Pass, make sure to hit “manage game” and only select the MW3 packs you need to install!
