Girl walking home from school ‘grabbed and punched’ by group of boys at Belgrave Lakes, Tamworth

Police are investigating after a teenage girl walking home from school was ‘grabbed and punched’ by a group of boys in a shocking assault. The attack happened at Belgrave Lakes in Tamworth on Wednesday, March 23.

The gang left on foot. The girl suffered minor injuries but did not need hospital treatment.

A post on social media by the victim’s mum read: “After school, as my daughter was walking home, she was approached by a group of lads who proceeded to punch and grab her, she managed to run home. As she has described these lads I am able to determine which school they attend with descriptions.

“I am not saying this is all kids / teenagers but whatever has happened to make this behavior OK? No respect or any thought of how this may affect the victim. This will be reported to the school and police.”

Staffordshire Police confirmed: “We are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was assaulted in Tamworth on Wednesday (March 23). The girl reported being attacked by a small group of boys at around 4.30pm at Belgrave Lake.

“She was punched and grabbed by the males who then left on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries in the assault which did not require hospital treatment.

“The incident was reported to police the following day (Thursday 24 March). Inquiries are ongoing.
