Criminals who pinched a mum’s car at gunpoint and later made off with £ 71,000 from a Tesco store have been caged for almost 25 years. Chakiah Lambert, 23, and Dante Morgan, 21, were part of a gang whose two-week crime spree saw them steal high-value cars and tens of thousands of pounds in cash.
Weapons including a hammer and a knife were brandished when the masked gang raided a Tesco store in the Black Country. One car-jacking even left a mum ‘traumatised’ when her vehicle was taken at gunpoint while her son was in the back seat.
Luckily, she managed to pull her son free before the thieves sped away in her Volkswagen Golf. Now, Lambert and Morgan have been locked up for their part in the crimes.

It comes after the pair were convicted of conspiracy to rob by jurors on December 23 last year. The crime spree started on August 4, 2018, when a house in Maybridge Drive, Solihull, was broken into during the early hours of the morning.
Several items were taken, along with keys to a white Alfa Romeo which was driven away. Then, a car-jacking in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, took place ten days later.
Police said four criminals targeted Tesco Express in Rowley Regis the following day. They burst into the store as delivery drivers were replenishing the cash machine before making off with £ 71,000.
A vehicle linked to the offenses triggered an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera the next day, which led armed police to track the car down to Handsworth. It had been abandoned in Holyhead Road but two of the occupants were chased by police and arrested nearby.
West Midlands Police’s force priorities team carried out an extensive forensic investigation, along with mobile phone analysis before charging Morgan and Lambert. They were convicted at Wolverhampton Crown Court following a 10-day trial.
DCI Nicki Addison from Force CID, said at the time: “These were targeted crimes for high value gains and we are pleased to have taken two dangerous offenders off the streets. They clearly were not acting alone and we will continue to pursue their associates “Anyone who can assist with information should contact us.”
The court heard Morgan is currently serving a nine-year sentence for robbery. Lambert, of Cottersmore Close, West Bromwich, was jailed for 14 years.
Morgan, of of Arundel Road, Oldbury, was locked up for nine years. It will run consecutively to his current jail term.
