Exact time wintry showers expected to hit Birmingham as cold snap continues

Winter was back in Birmingham today – with the Midlands shivering in single-figure temperatures on the last day of March. It was snowing in leafy Kenilworth at around 8am, with sleet and snow also forecast in some parts of the city.

And, while Birmingham was due to enjoy some sunny spells throughout the morning, temperatures were set to be below freezing. . Throughout the day, temperatures will remain low but rise just above freezing – from midday, it will feel like 1C until about 4pm.

At 5pm, there is a chance of rain, possibly mixed with some sleet or snow over the hills. Any showers will soon die out through the evening to leave a dry night with some long clear spells.

It was due to turn frosty overnight with a minimum temperature of -2C. The warm weekend weather is starting to feel like a distant memory with this cold snap expected to last until Monday.

In a forecast for today for the West Midlands Conurbation, the Met Office said:

“Cloud gradually clearing the far south during the morning, elsewhere some decent sunny spells after a cold start. Isolated afternoon showers may be locally wintry over the hills. Feeling cold in the brisk northeasterly wind. Maximum temperature 9 ° C. ”

8am: 1C feels like -4C

9am: 2C feels like -3C

10am: 3C feels like -2C

11am: 4C feels like -15C

Midday: 5C feels like 1C

1pm: 6C feels like 2C

2pm: 5C feels like 1C

3pm: 6C feels like 2C (30% chance of rain)

4pm: 6C feels like 2C

5pm: 5C feels like 1C (40% chance of rain – some wintry showers)

6pm: 5C feels like 1C

7pm: 4C feels like 0C

8pm: 3C feels like 0C

9pm: 3C feels like -1C

10pm: 2C feels like -2C

11pm: 2C feels like -2C
