England vs. France: Two World Cup Heavyweights Meet at Last

Back in June, when the 2018 World Cup brackets were first revealed, there was one matchup that jumped out immediately: England vs. France, two traditional soccer powers that hadn’t met in the tournament since England won on penalty kicks in the quarterfinals way back in 2006.

Now, they’ll finally face off again in the semifinals on Tuesday, with a spot in the World Cup final on the line.

This is a matchup between two of the most talented teams in the tournament. England, which won its group, features a number of young, up-and-coming stars like Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Dele Alli. France, meanwhile, is loaded with talent across the board, from forwards Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe to defender Raphael Varane.

In the past, both of these teams have beenknown for their physicality and defensive prowess. But this year, both England and France have been free-scoring squads, with 27 goals between them in the tournament so far.

This should be an incredible game between two World Cup heavyweights. And whoever comes out on top is sure to have their hands full in the final.
