Dog’s Reaction to First Time Wearing Shoes Goes Viral—’Turned Into a Bunny’

Ronny, November 16, 2023

A dog’s priceless reaction to his first time trying out shoes has gone viral online.

In a video uploaded to TikTok on Tuesday, November 14, by Caitlin Huang—who goes by the username caitlinlovehuang—goldendoodle Goose could be seen wearing shoes for the first time.

Goose seemed puzzled by his newfound footwear and jumped around as though he was trying to shake them off before hilariously exaggerating his walk while he moved around the home.

When Goose was asked to come to the other side of the room, he awkwardly ran over—still trying to get used to his shoes.

“He turned into a bunny,” the TikTok user said in a caption. “He is so bouncy.”

Newsweek has contacted caitlinlovehuang for comment via TikTok.

Should Dogs Wear Shoes?

According to the American Kennel Club Pet Insurance website, there are several instances where having dogs wear shoes can be beneficial for them.

“Insulated shoes or booties can keep your dog’s paws warm in the winter and protect against weather conditions like rain, snow, and ice,” said the website.

“They can also prevent exposure to harmful substances such as road salt and antifreeze.

“Shoes can help protect dogs’ paws from injuries caused by sharp rocks, thorns, and other hazards in the environment.

“This makes them a good option for dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors. If you often go hiking with your dog, consider investing in a pair of high-quality shoes or boots. This will help keep your dog’s paws safe from injuries and will also prevent them from getting muddy or wet.”

But there are instances where shoes are unnecessary for dogs and may even harm them.

“Uncomfortable, ill-fitting shoes can actually cause more harm than good. They may interfere with your dog’s mobility and make it harder for them to move around naturally, which can lead to slips and falls,” said the website.

“Ill-fitting shoes can also cause blisters, sores, and other painful injuries, just as they can for humans.”

Online Reaction to Video

The post has been viewed more than 4.7 million times and received an estimated 874,800 likes since it was uploaded.

Many people who commented on the video shared their own experiences with their dogs attempting to wear shoes.

TikTok user sharyheece said: “My dog was galloping with her shoes. I was laughing so much.”

Waratedogs added: “Based on that first jump I think Goose thought the boots would give him the power to fly.”

DiasporaArab commented: “I think at the start, he thought he could jump out of them and shake them off mid-air but failed.”

While Tiara Danyel posted: “My dogs did the same thing. [They] never wore them again.”
