David Lee Roth fans who cried out to see the rocker before his retirement got their options shaved off by a couple of shows.
Roth announced in October that his current series of dates at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas would be his last, saying he “throws his shoes in.”
But veteran Van Halen lead singer canceled his New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day performances at the venue, which issued a statement citing “unforeseen circumstances related to COVID.” Ticket holders will automatically receive a refund.

Roth is still scheduled for seven shows during the month, starting Jan. 5, which his spokesman confirmed would happen as planned. His race was originally scheduled to end on January 8, before concerts were added on the 14th-15th. and 21.-22. January.
Roth announced the extra shows on his website in early December.
The singer, who has always permeated his live performances with rock star elan and flair as a circus leader, typically includes a mix of Van Halen classics (“Panama”, “Runnin ‘With the Devil”) and his fresh 80s-era solo work (” Just Like Paradise “, his cover of” Just a Gigolo / I Ain’t Got Nobody “) on his set list.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal in October, Roth, 67, shared his decision to retire after his early dates in 2022.

In the same interview, Roth reflected on the loss of longtime bandmate Eddie Van Halen, who died in October 2020 after a long battle with throat cancer, and made a cryptic comment about his own health.
“I’m encouraged and forced to really tackle how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter,” Roth said.
