State police said Tuesday that William Wesley, 22, of Chicago Heights, is charged with attempted murder following what they are calling a road rage shooting that occurred early Sunday on Interstate 90 in Chicago.

He was ordered held without bond following an initial court appearance Monday, police said in a news release.

Police said they responded just before 2 a.m. Sunday to an expressway shooting in the northbound lanes of I-90 at Division Street in Chicago and learned the victim’s vehicle was shot at by the passenger of a white Ford sedan.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt, police said.

The sedan alleged to have been involved in the shooting was stopped by state police in Chicago on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 83rd Street, and Wesley and two passengers were taken into custody, although the passengers were later released without charges, police said.
