Changes to bus services for multiple schools in Trafford

TRANSPORT for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has revealed changes to the bus services to multiple schools in Trafford.

The changes, which affect Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Loreto Grammar School and Sale Grammar School, came into action on Monday and might see costs rise for families in the region.

At Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, TfGM’s £ 7.60 school weekly ticket is no longer available on the 758 service.

This is due to ‘a change in the way the service is contracted’.

The same applies at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls and Loreto Grammar School, also served by the 758 service.

The school weekly ticket is no longer available on the 783 and 784 services to Sale Grammar School either.

This is due to a new operator in the form of Go Goodwins.

Instead of the school weekly ticket, students are now able to purchase the System One weekly ticket at a cost of £ 10.30.

This allows travel on all operators’ services across Greater Manchester for one week, but is £ 2.70 more expensive than the school weekly ticket.

It means costs for families in the region might rise around 35 per cent unless students use bus services other than to get to school.
