Carol Vorderman sparks backlash on LBC as furious caller slams Labour | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Carol Vorderman shared his concern during a frank conference call on LBC after a caller named Annie said she was “outraged” that Labour had “unfairly” cut pensioners’ winter credit. She and her partner are just above the threshold and will not get the credit despite their disabilities.

The caller said she “couldn’t believe” Work The government is said to be presenting this budget plan and has shared its concern that many retirees may not survive the winter season if they have to choose between heating or food.

She concluded: “They have transformed themselves into a new evil party, even the Conservatives I did not do this.”

Social media users flocked to the post to comment, with some targeting Carol who had vocally expressed her support for a Labour government in the run-up to the election.

One person wrote: “Carol spent all her time promoting the Labour Party and now her beloved government has thrown our pensioners under the bus. Well done Vorders.”

Another added: “Didn’t Carol tell everyone to go out and vote for them too? She’s responsible.”

A third wrote: “We warned you Carol. Just like in his leadership campaign he said he would do anything to win, then he reneged on his promises. Same for this election, well done Carol.”

“It’s quite funny how Carol wants to step in and excuse this Labour mess,” remarked a fourth.

Another said: “Unfortunately this is what Annie voted for. Many of us warned of the dangers of a Labour government but were ignored. This is just the beginning.”

A fifth person said: “If she is disabled, she should be entitled to some kind of allowance and therefore continue to receive the winter heating allowance.”

It comes as Rachel Reeves warned that “tougher choices” lie ahead after winter fuel payments were scrapped for many pensioners in a bid to plug a £22bn black hole in public finances.

The Chancellor unveiled plans to tackle the anticipated overspending, including cuts to infrastructure projects and ending winter fuel payments for people not on means-tested benefits.
