Burst pipe in Jewelery Quarter shoots water 20ft into air as drivers face flooded street

This is the moment a burst pipe fired water 20ft into the air as motorists passed through a deluged city street. The rush-hour incident prompted delays as engineers rushed to the scene this morning.

The incident unfolded on Warstone Lane, in the Jewelery Quarter area of ​​Birmingham, after 8am today, Friday, April 8. Drivers could be seen still heading through the water fountain.

Birmingham City Council workmen were notified and arrived quickly on the scene to fix the problem. The Jewelery Quarter BID said the road was closed to allow for repairs.

Workmen are still at the scene. The road appeared to be running as normal shortly afterwards.

Footage captured by Free Radio News was posted on their Twitter page, which was captioned: “Be careful if you’re driving in Birmingham’s Jewelery Quarter this morning. A burst water pipe on Warstone Lane is causing some issues.”

While the Jewelery Quarter BID team added: “We are aware of a burst water pipe on Warstone Lane. @BhamCityCouncil have been contacted and the road will shortly be shut for the pipe to be fixed.”
