Roma reportedly challenge Manchester United’s interest in Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara as the race to pick him up gets hot.
The 22-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest prospects and is implied to be available to sign if a step were to be taken for him.
According to Sport Witness, Roma are trying to make a move for Kamara early on to put United in the lead in the race for his signature.
It is understood that the Italian giants are hoping to pick up the young man this month for a fee to beat the competition instead of waiting until summer to pick him up for free.
Marseille obviously want money instead of losing Kamara for nothing as he is now ready to talk to the clubs and sign a pre-contract.
It is said that picking the talented midfielder Roma would not be a ‘complicated task’, although the Red Devils are still causing a problem.
Kamara reportedly knows he would get a higher salary with Manchester United than Roma, and that gives Ralf Rangnick’s side a big advantage.
Although Marseille would rather the Italian team sign him now so they can get a fee for him, it is the player who has the power in this scenario.
He knows that if he signs for a club for free, it means that higher salaries can be offered as there is no transfer fee involved.
If the interest is real, Rangnick may even offer a small fee to pick up Kamara now, especially since it has been said he wants to pick up a defensive midfielder.
It is likely that United’s ability to pick someone up this month will depend on player sales and salaries being released.
It is only then that the red devils can consider taking a step towards Kamara, though they may register their interest earlier if they wish.
