What a week it’s been for Jon Stewart. After successfully shaming Republican lawmakers into passing the PACT Act, Stewart faced a series of deeply strange insults about his height by conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson—and handled them with aplomb.
On Thursday during his Fox News show Tucker Carlson Tonight, Carlson came for Stewart for [checks notes] helping to pass bipartisan legislation that extended healthcare and disability benefits to US veterans. Carlson’s ad hominem attacks of Stewart were bizarre and offensive, with Carlson first stating that Stewart looks “like a guy who lives in the men’s room at your public library, eating imaginary insects out of the air,” then comparing him to “a homeless mental patient.”
Then Carlson decided to get even weirder, and began homing in on Stewart’s height. “He’s shrieking and disheveled and very short,” Carlson said of The Problem with Jon Stewart harvest. “Really short. Too short to date. Was he always that short?”
Stewart—who stands at a sensible 5 foot 7 inches and has been married for over 20 years, by the way—clapped back with a now-viral Tweet roasting Carlson for his obsession with the far-right authoritarian leader of Hungary, Viktor Orbán. “@TuckerCarlson believes me too short to date…and yet somehow miraculously, I remain tall enough not to know what Victor Orban’s ass tastes like! Is it goulash Tucky? Seems like it would be goulash.”
