Birmingham’s business has reacted with shock and grief after a well-known West Midlands businessman and fundraiser took his own life.

Over the weekend, the details came to light that LoveBrum ambassador and partnership manager at the sunglasses brand BadHero had committed suicide.

Owen Long was heavily involved in LoveBrum, the umbrella group set up by city business executives to help local charities and initiatives.

Tim Andrews, chairman and co-founder of LoveBrum, said: “Owen was one of the most selfless, caring, loving and humorous souls. He was an avid supporter and ambassador of LoveBrum right from the start and voluntarily gave up hours and hours for “to help others. He lit up every room he went into, leaving Birmingham in a darker place, but with a legacy that we will celebrate. Birmingham has lost a true master.”

Andrews co-founder of LoveBrum, PJ Ellis, added: “Owen did so many things for others. One gesture that will stay with me was, when he bought 50 greeting cards, asked people to send him love messages, which he then wrote on each of these cards, and delivered them to a local nursing home on Valentine’s Day. The Hollywood Monster printed a large banner that he could take with him. He had a very big heart, and I’ll miss him terribly. “

Andrew told TheBusinessDesk.com that LoveBrum will commemorate Owen Long’s life at a special event in the coming weeks.
