Bill Belichick holds scrimmage to end long week, Matt Patricia calls plays – Boston Herald

FOXBORO — Fans filled the lower bowl, one team occupied each sideline, referees roamed the field and a kickoff opened play.

But that was about it for real football Friday night at Gillette Stadium.

For 90 minutes, the Patriots held an intra-squad scrimmage at three-quarter speed to simulate their game-day routines and drill situational football. It was their fifth straight practice of the week, one open only to Foxboro residents and season ticket holders. Bill Belichick divided his roster into two sides: a Blue Team composed of first and second-stringers and a White Team that consisted entirely of backups.

Here are the Herald’s complete practice observations:

Attendance

Returned: None

Absent: OLB Matt Judon, RB Rhamondre Stevenson, DB Jabrill Peppers, TE Dalton Keene, LB Jahlani Tavai

Limited: DL Dietrich Wise

Non-contact jersey: None

PUP: RB James White

NFI: OL Chasen Hines, OL Andrew Stueber

Notes: Peppers, Stevenson and Tavai were present. Tavai wore a compression sleeve on his lower right leg after going down in 11-on-11s and getting helped off the field Thursday. Judon missed his second straight practice, Keene his fourth straight.
