Aurora man who jumped bail sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting two children – Chicago Tribune

An Aurora man who missed his trial after jumping bail has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting two children, officials said.

Jose Arellano, 47, of the 500 block of Morton Avenue, was found guilty by a jury in September of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. He was sentenced on Nov. 18 to life in prison and will also have to register for life as a sexual offender.

Arellano is still wanted on a warrant and his location is unknown. He had posted a $30,000 bond on July 6, 2020, and was last seen Dec. 8, 2021, when he appeared remotely for a hearing, officials said.

Prosecutors said that between September 2010 and May 2020, Arellano sexually assaulted two children, both of whom he knew and who were younger than 13 years old.

Anyone with information on Arellano is asked to contact the Kane County Child Advocacy Center at 630-208-5160 or to call 911.
