Apple’s iOS 18.1 developer beta adds AI call recording and transcription

Apple’s iOS 18.1 developer preview comes with an AI-powered feature that lets you record and transcribe phone calls, like reported by MacRumorsUsers with access to the beta can tap the new “Record” button in the upper left corner of the call screen to keep an audio log of their call.

Once activated, all callers will hear a message by saying, “This call will be recorded.” The Phone app will then record the call, while automatically creating a transcript that will appear in the Notes app. Additionally, users will also be able to access the full audio recording and an AI-generated summary of the call in the Notes app.

Apple first phone call recording shown at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The feature seems useful for journalists who often conduct interviews over the phone, and could even come in handy if you’re taking an important call from a doctor and want to remember exactly what they say.
