“If you bang my brother, I will never forgive you!” Freestyle Digital Media has unveiled an official trailer for Jess Plus None, an indie comedy created by filmmaker Mandy Fabian as her feature directorial debut. This first premiered back in 2023 at both the BFI Flare & Frameline LGBTQ Film Festivals, and will be out to watch on VOD anywhere next week. A reluctant maid-of-honor attending an off-the-grid wedding in the woods must confront her perfect ex-girlfriend, her more successful college friends, and every single one of her life choices. Starring Abby Miller, Matt Walsh, Marielle Scott, & Rory O’Malley. “Jess Plus None manages its tones masterfully while giving us a flawed but relatable protagonist who’s simply doing the best she can. If you’re not laughing, you’re cringing, and that makes it a screwball comedy [in] a contemporary lens.” This looks very indie and kinda funny and a bit zany – might be entertaining enough for a quick watch.

Screwball comedies feel like something from a bygone era, which makes it even more impressive that Jess Plus None understands the formula so well. When Jess, a reluctant maid of honor, finds herself at her best friend’s “middle of the woods” wedding, she is confronted by her ex-girlfriend, her ultra successful friend from college, her gay friend and his new partner, and every bad choice she’s made throughout her life. Jess Plus None is written and directed by American indie filmmaker Mandy Fabian, making her feature directorial debut after many short films and other projects previously. Produced by Sarah Chaney, Heather Olt, and Mandy June Turpin. This initially premiered at the 2023 BFI Flare & Frameline Film Festivals a few years ago. Freestyle Digital Media will debut Fabian’s Jess Plus None film direct-to-VOD in the US on April 29th, 2025 coming soon. For any more info, visit the film’s official site. Anyone want to watch this?
